Using with Glyphosate

“Roundup” (Glyphosate) is a broad spectrum systemic herbicide which inhibits the plant enzyme 5 enolpyruvylshikimate - 3 - phosphate synthase. It is used to kill weeds, especially annual broadleaf weeds and grasses that compete with crops such as Flaxleaf fleabane (Conyza bonariensis).

Recently, the cost of Glyphosate has spiralled and so there is compelling motivation for options of reducing Glyphosate dosage rates per hectare. (refer Figure 1)

Glyphosate is currently banned for use in Austria, Belgium, The Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Italy, The Netherlands, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Malawi, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Bermuda, St Vincent and the Grenadines and over 30 states in the USA. Germany has committed to ban it by 2024.

In Australia, however, the APVMA has approved of products containing Glyphosate such as “Roundup” so long as the recommended usage instructions are followed.

“Roundup”  is widely used on Australian farms and in domestic applications.

Growers have recently noticed a build up of resistance to Glyphosate, reducing its effectiveness and seriously impacting on crop yields. Even at low density it has been seen to reduce crop yields in Queensland by 60-100%!

In Latin America, the application of REMEDiAg OCC in combination with glyphosate for post-emergent weed control on broadacre crops and in sugar cane orchards has seen the improved control of glyphosate-resistant weeds and well as enhanced yields with faster crop growth.

By combining Roundup with REMEDiAG OCC growers can substantially reduce the labels' recommended dosage while maintaining its effectiveness.
